Piano Instructor
Jennifer Horrigan is the piano instructor for the OCHS Academy of Performing Arts.
Mrs. Horrigan has been teaching for 20 years in private, public, and independent schools across Louisiana. She has experience teaching band, choir, piano, musical theatre, general music classes, liturgical music, and fine arts survey.
Mrs. Horrigan has extensive Educational Outreach experience from her 5 years with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra serving as Education Director. Mrs. Horrigan has been playing piano and percussion for over 30 years. She was selected as the only piano spot for Louisiana College Honor Band twice and was selected as the only pianist for the National Intercollegiate Honor Band at North Texas State University. She has worked with churches, Drum Lines, and theatre community groups for over 25 years.
Mrs. Horrigan holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy, and a Bachelor of Music Education in Percussion. She is pursuing her Master's Degree in Music Education, with a Kodaly Emphasis from Lamar State University. She is certified in Kodaly Levels 1 - 3, and Musikgarten Cycle of the Seasons and God's Children Sing. Mrs. Horrigan helped co - create the Innov8 Award - Winning Program, Do - Re - ME! which has received local, state, and national attention for its arts integration in music with children in Pre - Kindergarten and Kindergarten. She has 3 boys who are involved in musical activities, including cello, saxophone, and tuba in the arts academies of the Lafayette Parish School System. She also has two stepdaughters who are involved in gifted and talented programs i n Lafayette Parish, as well as CYT and gymnastics. She enjoys spending her time with her awesome "Aussie" husband, Chris, her 5 children, and playing music at her church
